Unable to manually create FTP accounts on TOOLBOX 7.1

Hi.

We have a TOOLBOX 7.1 installation and we were trying to create an FTP account manually, with the web interface (instead of from the FTP script). After clicking "Add a new FTP account", filling the fields username, password, root directory and write permission (checked or unchecked, doesn't matter) and clicking "Add", an empty page is shown and the account is not created.

This works without any problems in TOOLBOX 6.0, for example.

Paulo

Re: Unable to manually create FTP accounts on TOOLBOX 7.1

Hi.

I tested with Firefox 3.5.3 (latest Firefox) and Internet Explorer 6 (which is the current ESA Corporate browser). I have similar behavior in both cases, although the web interface does not work correctly in IE 6.

On the javascript console of both browsers, I noticed the following error now:

Error: inputInterfaceXml.selectNodes("/gis:inputInterface/gis:requestInformations") [0] is undefined Source File: http://host:port/TOOLBOX/jsScripts/import/gis-client-library/widgets/lib/ext/ExtFormUtils.js Line: 208"

This is why nothing is shown on the web interface when we try to list accounts.

Paulo

Hi Paulo,

this doesn't surprise me. We had a lot of these problems since javascript seems to be far enough from being standardized. I'll queue the problem and provide you a patch as soon as possible.
Kind regards,

Re: Unable to manually create FTP accounts on TOOLBOX 7.1

Hi Paulo,

i performed a few tests and i can successfully list and delete FTP accounts. As said, your problem may arise from an incopatibility of the JavaScript code with your browser. I suggest you to try with another browser (or another version of the same).
I teste it with a Firefox 3.0.8 and works nicely.
Hope this helps.

Re: Unable to manually create FTP accounts on TOOLBOX 7.1

Hi Paulo,

i'm sorry, we haven't. We have been really busy lately. The FTP administration page has been developed in Javascript which, as we discovered, is really sensible to the browser you are using (there are different behaviour between two versions of the same browser). The FTP configuration page has been tested for the Toolbox 7.1 acceptance so i believe this is a browser problem. Have you tried with another browser?
Anyway, i'll check the issue and let you know. Can you please give your browser version?

Hi.

Do you have any news about this problem? We are still unable to list and delete FTP accounts...

Re: Unable to manually create FTP accounts on TOOLBOX 7.1

Hi.

There are no exceptions on the catalina.out log file. There are also no exceptions on the toolbox.log log file.

I investigated a bit, and in reality the FTP account is correctly created. However, it is not displayed on the "FTP account list" on the web interface and no feedback is given on the creation page (I don't know if this is supposed to be like that or not). This means that we cannot delete an account, for example.

I looked under the $TOMCAT_HOME/webapps/TOOLBOX/WEB-INF/FTPServer/res/log/ directory and the log file for the FTP server is not there.

I can see the existing FTP accounts on the file $TOMCAT_HOME/webapps/TOOLBOX/WEB-INF/FTPServer/res/conf/users.properties .

For your information, we are not running the Toolbox with the "root" account, we are using a regular account. The HTTP port is set to 8080 and the FTP port is set to 2121. Then we have an iptables rule to forward traffic from port 21 to port 2121.

The FTP server itself and the iptrables rule seem to be working correctly, i.e. we can connect on port 21, login, see the files, upload and download files.

The FTP account management functionality on the web interface is what doesn't seem to work.

Hi Paulo,

have you taken a look to the catalina.out log file in order to see if any exception has been written in it?
