New CRS request

Dear WebMapViewer Team,

may I ask you to add some new CRSs to the list of selectable ones? We would need some country specific ones and the "standard" European Lambert Azimuthal Equal Area one for the SOSI project.

The EPSG codes of the needed CRSs are:
EPSG:23700 – Hungary
EPSG:31287 – Austria
EPSG:2169 – Luxembourg
EPSG:2065 – Czech Republic
EPSG:3035 – European

Many thanks,
Stephan

Re: New CRS request

Stephan,

Indeed, the patch has been applied on the test portal and the operational portal will follow today. Note that apart from the items in this thread there are also 3 additional improvements:

1) support for WMS 1.3.0 LayerLimit parameter that allows a server to declare the maximum number of WMS layers that a client can include within a request
2) support for an empty CRS or SRS element at root layer level to declare that the service has not got any SRS/CRS that is supported by all layers
3) upgrade of the updateWMSURL Javascript function for WMS 1.3.0

Best regards

Re: New CRS request

Laszlo, Stephan

Both support for EPSG:3035 and the fix for the issue that all layers are removed if there is one layer that does not support the new CRS, are implemented on our test portal, but these fixes are not yet deployed on services-test nor on services.eoportal.org.
Will keep you posted.

Best regards

Re: Re: New CRS request

Steven,

it looks the patches are applied at the testing portal.

Thanks,
Stephan

Re: New CRS request

Dear WebMapViewer team,

an additional info to your investigations: I have also tried the new WebMapViewer version deployed at the test portal for the SOSI service

http://services-test.eoportal.org/portal/service/ShowServiceInfo.do?serviceId=1980F180

I added the EPSG:23700 crs to the webmapviewer configuration. When I try to select this at runtime, I don't get any error message (that can be observed for EPSG:3035) but only an empty (white) map is displayed!

Kind regards,
Laszlo

Re: New CRS request

Stephan.

Limiting extent for a CRS, is only configurable by the administrator; not the service provider. Note that this limiting extent is only used when the conversion of the map limiting extent in the actual CRS to the new CRS becomes unstable. In the case of Luxembourg, the world extent can be converted, so the limiting extent from the administrators' config file is not used. In this case, a trick is to first zoom in to the area that you are interested in, draw an AOI as limiting extent and only then switch the CRS. The message that appears when changing CRS, is indeed misleading and will be changed.

Best regards,

Steven

Re: Re: New CRS request

Steven,

thanks for the update.

Unfortunately I have some problems when trying to use EPSG:3035. Switching the CRS for the user is not possible because the popup only shows following error message:

The application is not able to display this page. No transform for classification "Lambert_Azimuthal_Equal_Area".

Another problem is that sometimes after switching the CRS layers are still shown in the list but not on the map. This happens for example when only some layers support the new CRS and others not e.g. Demis layers should be removed but custom ones are still valid.

Best regards,
Stephan

Re: New CRS request

Stephan and other interested parties,

We have now found a way for implementing support for ETRS89 - LAEA (EPSG:3035) in the SSE WebMapViewer. It is implemented in the demo portal at GIM. Send a mail to support at gim.be if you would like to start testing your EPSG:3035 OGC services before this functionality gets migrated to the SSE test environment.

Best regards,

Re: Re: New CRS request

Thanks for your response and the good news!

I've started to test your demo portal with our OGC services. In general it works really good but some details are unclear to me.

* First of all there is the somehow misleading warning message when the default CRS is changed and the shown layers support the old and the new CRS and thus are kept: "This Coordinate Reference System is not compatible with the map layers currently displayed. Do you want to discard these map layers and instead load the default set of map layers for this CRS ?". BTW. this keeping of layers is not supported by the EPSG:3035 CRS.

* I think the default area for the Luxembourg CRS is wrong. The bounding box in GetMap requests is e.g. BBOX=101674775.0,927618.6,113571895.3,8988986.6 but I think it should be in the range of BBOX=0,0,150000,150000.

* Is there any way to configure the area extent limit for the national CRSs for a service provider or is this fixed?

* Minor note: Sometimes with multiple default CRS changes the WMV gets confused and shows layers in the list which are not requested according to the log file.

Many thanks,
Stephan

Re: New CRS request

Stephan,

As discussed, the first 4 CRS seem to be supported by the projection library that we do use. We have added these to the demo portal at GIM, for you to test with, prior to transfering those to the ESA Environment.
The 5th one is currently unfortunately not supported.

Best regards
