BPEL process and instance clean-up on SSE Test Portal

To SSE Service Providers on the SSE Test Portal:

As you may know, the SSE Test Portal is heavily used by the SSE Service Provider community during service development. SSE service development usually involves the creation of several BPEL processes and the running of several BPEL instances. High numbers of BPEL processes and instances put the server under increasing stress, leading to performance limitations and potential exhaustion of resources in extreme cases.

To mitigate this problem, we would like to kindly ask you to assess the BPEL processes and instances under your BPEL domain, undeploy any processes that you are no longer using and, if possible, clean all of your BPEL instances.

To undeploy an unnecessary BPEL process:

1) Login at http://services-test.eoportal.org/BPELConsole/ with your SSE username/password.
2) Click the "BPEL Processes" tab.
3) Click the name of the process you want to undeploy.
4) Change "Process Lifecycle" to "Retired" and "Process State" to "Off" and click "Apply".
5) At the bottom of the page, click "Undeploy"
6) Click OK and then Done.

To clean all BPEL instances from your BPEL domain (unfortunately, the BPEL Console only allows cleaning one instance at a time or all in one go):

1) Login at http://services-test.eoportal.org/BPELConsole/ with your SSE username/password.
2) Click the "Instances" tab.
3) On the bottom left of the page, click "Purge All Instances".
4) Click "Delete all instances".

Finally, note that any SSE services that depend on undeployed workflows will no longer work after you undeploy them. So, you should advise us of any SSE services that you would like to have deleted.

Let us know if you have any problems or questions regarding this subject.

Best Regards,

SSE Operations Team
