this is to inform you, and especially the team which elaborated the WCS 2.0 / EO specifications in the HMA-FO project, that EUMETSAT and DLR support the extension of the GeoServer open source software wrt WCS 2.0 / EO. The extensions currently performed by GeoSolutions S.A.S. include the following points:
1) WCS 2.0 Support in GeoServer
- WCS 2.0 Core with KVP binding (GET requests), XML POST binding
- WCS 2.0 EO Application Profile
2) Support for WMS EO Application Profile Best Practice
3) Improving Raster Management in GeoServer
- Multidimensional Data as Input, incl. NetCDF format
- PostGIS Raster Support
- WCS Output Formats, incl. NetCDF and GML Grid Coverage Output
- Option for original NetCDF product file delivery
4) Improvements of REST Configuration for Multidimensional Coverages
We look forward the first results expected in early 2013 and the first experiences with our EO data. Later, we suggest a coordinated activity to validate, benchmark and consolidate the different WCS 2.0 / EO implementations available, with defined scenarios on existing EO data sets. This may also result in a specification feedback loop. We kindly invite ESA to support this.
