HMA-S Task 4 - OpenSearch Extension to Download EO Products (TELESPAZIO)

Summary of the activities

  • OGC Specification (TELESPAZIO)

The purpose of this task is to prepare an OGC Best Practices Document having 2 objectives:

  • To propose a simplified and RESTful encoding of HMA Ordering Specification OGC 06-141r6 V1.0.0. In this way Ordering functions will be available to Web browsers without the need of more complex infrastructures based on SOAP.
  • To define a way for discovering order / download options via Open Search description documents

This protocol will cover, in RESTful way, the following HMA Ordering ICD operations (currently envisaged list):

  • GetCapabilities
  • GetOptions
  • Submit
  • GetStatus
  • DescribeResultAccess
  • Cancel

Additionally GetOptions operation will be significantly updated in order to support order / download options discovery via OpenSearch description document and template URLs.

Being a Best Practice document, then it has to comply with the normal OGC Policies and then it has to include Requirement Classes and Conformance Classes (tests).

  • Abstract Test Suite (TELESPAZIO)

The document will include a sub-set of HMA Ordering ICD requirement classes:

  • Core: regrouping the basic requirements of the specification, including also cancellation and download options;
  • ProductDownloadRequest, SceneSelection: regrouping the requirements for issuing download requests for EO products including possible scene selection options;
  • SubscriptionDownloadRequest: regrouping the requirements for automatic download of products subscribed via Open Search query.

For each of them a dedicated Conformace Class with a set of Conformance Test will be defined for verifying the compliance of the server under test.

RESTful Encoding of Ordering Services Framework For Eath Observation Products

  • Executable Test Scripts (TELESPAZIO)

The document will be completed with ETS, including the implementation via CTL scripts of the Conformace Tests defined in the Best Practice document.

HMA-S Task 4 - EO Data Access Protocol (TELESPAZIO)

Summary of the activities

  • OGC Specification (TELESPAZIO)

The EO Data Access Protocol formalizes as OGC document (possibly Best Practice, otherwise Discussion Paper) the download protocol defined in ngEO project (described in ngEO-DAGICD).

The protocol will support the following scenarios:

  • The product is already available for download;
  • The product is under processing, but not ready yet;

Additionally the following sub-cases will be supported:

  • Product file available from multiple sources (parallel download);
  • The product is composed of multiple files, each possibly available from multiple sources (multiple download);
  • The product file is reachable via several HTTP redirections from the original URL.

And also any combination of previous options.

  • Abstract Test Suite (TELESPAZIO )

As all OGC Best Practices documents, this specification includes Requirements Classes and Conformace Classes. The currently envisaged list of Requirement / Conformace classes is:

  • Core, regrouping all requirements for supporting direct download, multi file download (Metalink), multi source download (Metalink), redirection.
  • On-demand Download, inhering from Core class and including the requirements for allowing download of product files not ready yet .

HMA-S Task 4 - GeoTemporal OpenSearch Extension (TERRADUE)

Summary of the activities

  • OGC Specification (TERRADUE)

This task will aligned the current “OpenSearch GeoSpatial and Temporal Extensions” OGC 10-032 draft document in accordance with the HMA-S objectives. The “OpenSearch GeoSpatial and Temporal Extensions” defines the spatial and temporal extensions for OpenSearch and hasthe capability to allow the propagation of queries between aggregators’ sites and dataset discovery services (or from collection level to products). The capability, often called “drill down”, is given by the atom:link relation “search” that defines the auto-discovery feature of OpenSearch in RSS and Atom and reference an OpenSearch description document when the resource is search service. The result obtained from such a service them allows the linking of catalogues/collection and more specialized search services or to discover both collections and product resources (series and datasets in ISO19115).

Draft OGC 10-032 - OGC® OpenSearch GeoSpatial and Temporal Extensions

  • Abstract Test Suite (TERRADUE)

This abstract test suite will include abstreact test suits to the folloiwng conformance classes:

  • A.1. OpenSearch Description: The server generates a valid OpenSearch description document.  
  • A.2. ATOM Response Type: The server defines an URL template for the ATOM response type.
  • A.3. Bounding Box Search: The server implements a bounding box search.
  • A.4. Arbitrary Geometry Search:    The server implements a spatial search capability using an arbitrary geometry.
  • A.5. Point and Radius Search: The server implements a spatial search using a point and a radius.
  • A.6. Minimum spatial operator: The server implements the “overlaps” spatial operator.    
  • A.7. Spatial operators: The server implements the spatial operators “contains” and “disjoint”.
  • A.8. Get record by id: The server can retrieve a record form its repository using the id of the record.
  • A.9. Search by name:    The server implements a spatial search using the name or address of a location.
  • A.10. Temporal search: The server implements a temporal search capability.

HMA-S Task 4 - OpenSearch Extension to Search EO Products (TERRADUE)

Summary of the activities

  • OGC Specification (TERRADUE)

The OpenSearch EO Extension (OpenSearch Extension to Search Earth Observation Products) defines an OpenSearch extension to support search operators on Earth Observation catalogues.
EO products have specific characteristics like the orbit number, processing centre and acquisition station that follow a specific logic inherent to the EO community of users of satellite datasets.

Draft OGC 13-026 - OGC® OpenSearch Extension for Earth Observation Products

  • Abstract Test Suite (TERRADUE)

The abstract tests will cover the conformance classes for the following queriables:

  • Platform or satellite from where it originates (e.g. SPOT, ENVISAT)
  • The Satellite number (if exists)
  • The sensor used to acquire the data
  • The processing centre responsible for its elaboration together with the date and software used for the processing
  • The date of acquisition
