AirWAVe
AirWAVe Generic Processing

AirWAVe is a novel algorithm to retrieve the water vapour content from ATSR measurements. ATSR data are primarily used for the retrieval of the Sea and Land Surface Temperature at the nominal resolution of 1km x 1km. The objective of AirWAVe is to create a dataset of ATSR retrieved Water Vapour over Land and Sea and during Night and Day
Overpass. This dataset will be then validated and studied in order to understand if the Water Vapour ATSR product could be used within the next upcoming Sentinel 3 mission.

AMORGOS
AMORGOS Generic Processing

The purpose of the AMORGOS (Accurate MERIS Ortho-Rectified Geo-location Operational Software) tool is to generate accurate geo-location information - longitude, latitude, altitude - for each MERIS pixel, starting from a MERIS Full Resolution product: either a Full Swath or a standard half-swath Scene product.

BEAM Arithmetic
BEAM Arithmetic

The BEAM Arithmetic G-POD service allows the performance of band calculation of AATRS Level 1 and 2, MERIS Level 1 and 2 Reduced and Full resolution products. The generated products are then optionally binned using a bitmask expression. A quick look is also generated using standard or user-defined palettes. This service is used for GPOD Cat-1 Project 4073 to extract algal concentrations.

BEAM Reproject
BEAM Reproject

BEAM is an open-source toolbox and development platform for viewing, analysing and processing remote sensing raster data. BEAM supports a growing number of satellite missions such as ENVISAT, ERS, MODIS, AVHRR, AVNIR, PRISM, SMOS and CHRIS/Proba as well as generic data formats like HDF, GeoTIFF, NetCDF and ENVI HDR. The G-POD service uses BEAM capabilities to reproject the raster data to produce a BEAM-DIMAP product reprojected over a given AOI.

Basic Radar Altimetry Toolbox

The BRAT generic service is the G-POD interface to the Basic Radar Altimetry Toolbox (BRAT). This is a collection of tools and documents designed to facilitate the use of radar altimetry data. It can read most distributed radar altimetry data, from ERS-1 & 2, Topex/Poseidon, Geosat Follow-on, Jason-1 and 2, Envisat to the Cryosat mission, and can perform processing and data editing, extraction of statistics, and visualisation of results.

Envisat GlobTemperature

Land surface temperature (LST) is a key parameter in the physical study of atmosphere-land interactions, hydrological, mass and energy balances, sensible and latent heat fluxes as well as for global warming and climate change monitoring on a larger timescale. The main tool to obtain land surface temperature as such a key parameter at global scale with different spatial and temporal resolutions is remote sensing in the thermal infrared region. Envisat MERIS Algal-1
Envisat MERIS Algal-1

This G-POD demonstration service triggers a simple application on G-POD that statistically aggregates the chlorophyll concentration measurements in the ENVISAT/MERIS level-2 product pixels over a user-defined area and time-period into a level-3 like resulting product. The software suite behind is based on the BEAM API developed by Brockman Consult under ESA contract.

Envisat MERIS Level 3 MGVI processor
Envisat MERIS Level 3 MGVI processor

The Envisat MERIS Level 3 MGVI processor is used for the creation of the MERIS Global Vegetation Index (MGVI) Level 3 product for global products. The input MERIS Reduced Resolution Level 2 products are spatially projected at near sensor resolution using the nearest neighbour algorithm. The results of this processing step are used in a second processing pass where the temporal aggregation is computed by using the Time Composite Algorithm for FAPAR products developed by Nadine Gobron at the European Commission Joint Research Centre (JRC). Envisat MERIS Mosaic (COM)
Envisat MERIS Mosaic (COM)

This service aims at the generation of on-demand of mosaics using MERIS level-2 products. These products can be selected over user-defined areas and temporal coverage. The final image is a mosaic made up of true colour images using four out of 15 MERIS spectral bands taken from Envisat (bands 2, 3, 5 and 7). The output file can be downloaded in TIFF format, a set of JPEG scaled-pyramid tiles suitable for a Web Map Service, or be used directly in a Web Map Service and combined with other geographical information. Envisat MERIS Regional MGVI
Envisat MERIS Regional MGVI

The Envisat MERIS Regional MGVI is used for the creation of the MERIS Global Vegetation Index (MGVI) Level 3 regional products in Plate-Carree and UTM projections. The input MERIS Reduced Resolution Level 2 products covering the area of interest are spatially projected at near sensor resolution using the nearest neighbour algorithm. The second pass is the temporal aggregation using the Time Composite Algorithm for FAPAR products (N. Gobron - JRC). A third pass generates the products in the HDF file format. Envisat RA2 River and Lake

Together with ESA, De Montfort University (UK) developed a system to obtain an estimation of River and Lake heights from both ERS and Envisat data. De Montfort University (DMU) developed an automated system to produce two types of products called River Lake Hydrology product (RLH) and River Lake Altimetry product (RLA). This service is scheduled to run in a 5-day floating time B32window and publishes the result in a ESA web site (http://earth.esa.int/riverandlake/).

FAIRE
Fast Access to Imagery for Rapid Exploitation

FAIRE is an ESA-developed G-POD application aiming to provide a fast and easy access to SAR imagery data specifically customized for usage in SAR-based change-detection applications. Beyond the simple on-line provision of SAR data to the user, FAIRE implements the preliminary image processing steps (image coregistration, ortho-rectification, etc) required prior to the actual change analysis processes. FAIRE2 G-POD service provides a significant contribution in developing and enhancing flood monitoring capability. This service is invoked in the context of flood crisis situations.

GeoAcca

The geoacca package contains modules and command line scripts for analyzing the GEOlocation ACCurAcy of georeferenced
images of optical sensors by comparing EO input data with high-resolution reference data. The comparison
is performed at locations of pre-defined Ground Control Points (GCPs) by template matching. The calculated shifts are
stored in a database together with metadata information on the input and reference images and geographic information
on the GCPs.

InSAR SBAS
InSAR SBAS

InSAR involves combining two or more radar images of the same ground location in such a way that very precise measurements - down to a scale of a few millimetres - can be made of any ground motion taking place between image acquisitions. The algorithm used in this service has been developed by the scientists of Italy's Istituto per il Rilevamento Elettromagnetico dell' Ambiente (IREA-CNR). The same algorithm can be used either for analysing long time-series to observe subsidence phenomena or to map rapid deformations e.g. after earthquakes.
The service is available for Geohazards-TEP , originally SSEP, users.

Next ESA SAR Toolbox

The Next ESA SAR Toolbox (NEST) is a open source toolbox for reading, post-processing, analysing and visualising SAR data from ERS-1 & 2, ENVISAT and the future Sentinel-1 mission. In addition, NEST supports third party missions including JERS-1, ALOS PALSAR, TerraSAR-X, Radarsat-2 and Cosmo-Skymed. This G-POD service allows users to import an existing processing definition and run it on large quantity of products.

NEST Urban Growth Monitoring pre-processing

NEST UGM pp (NEST Urban Growth Monitoring pre-processing) performs the pre-processing of ASAR Wide Swath products to compute the Terrain Corrected SAR signal over large areas.

The software applies the orbit correction (DORIS precise orbits), SAR-Simulation, Ground Control Points selection and SAR-Simulation/Terrain Correction in order to compute the input data for temporal evaluation of the backscattering changes to identify urban/non urban areas in further steps.

PHenology And Vegetation Earth Observation Service

PHAVEOS (PHenology And Vegetation Earth Observation Service) project offers a wide range of products and tools to investigate Earth Observation-derived phenology patterns, via selection of biophysical parameters for comparison against in situ data. Among the parameters generated, PHAVEOS produces, from MERIS Full Resolution data, Surface Reflectance, MTCI, TOA-VEG, NDVI and FAPAR over custom grids.

SARvatore for CryoSat-2
SARvatore for CryoSat-2

SARvatore stands for: SAR Versatile Altimetric Toolkit for Ocean Research and Exploitation (SARvatore) for CryoSat-2. SARvatore is a Software Prototype developed in ESA/ESRIN to experiment with the processing from L1a (FBR) to L2 using the SAMOSA model. It can be used over open ocean or coastal ocean, as well as more difficult targets such as rivers and lakes. This toolkit is made available to the user community via the web interface of EO-GPOD. The toolkit takes in input Cryosat-2 SAR FBR data products and produces in output geophysical L2 products in standard netcdf format. This output can be manipulated and visualized with BRAT (ESA Basic Altimetry Radar ToolBox).

Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity Level 1

ESA's Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity (SMOS) mission has been designed to observe soil moisture over the Earth's landmasses and salinity over the oceans. Due to its scientific relevance and the complexity of the matter, operational processors of SMOS are updated on a 6 month basis. This service integrates the SMOS L1P processors to quick test early releases with a substantial set of data or special configuration parameters.
